PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The north gate on Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, is the busiest gate on base, with peak traffic times being from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m., according to Tim Omdal, 21st Security Forces Squadron deputy director. If more people switch their commute and drive on base through the west gate, this could help alleviate traffic at the north gate, Omdal said. The FedEx Distribution Center is expected to begin construction on a new distribution center outside the west gate at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, in February. The City of Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Airport authority gave its approval for the facility to be built at Stewart Avenue and Airport Road.
