PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 21st Medical Group personnel cheer as the results of their 2010 Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care inspection are announced. The 21st MDG scored a ‘95’ which placed the group in the “outstanding” category. The nine-member inspection team awarded the group a perfect score in five out of 16 inspectable areas and the scores didn’t drop below 83 in the remaining eleven. Each of the three main scoring categories, Expeditionary Medical Operations, In-Garrison Medical Operations, and Leadership were all scored “Outstanding”. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Larry Hulst)

A new beginning!

Lonnie Locks, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron, and their four-year-old son Quentin Locks, join Peterson Air Force Base senior leaders Col. Stephen N. Whiting, 21st Space Wing commander, Col. Emily Buckman, 21st Mission Support Group commander, and Lt. Col. John Silverman, 21st Force Support Squadron commander, breaking ground on the Peterson East child development center March 8. Located across from the base exchange and commissary, the $8.1 million project is being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Peterson East CDC will accommodate 192 children, increasing the wing’s ability to provide high-quality child care to servicemembers stationed here and is expected to open in August 2011. The 25,000 square-foot facility will be built using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver design criteria and include solar hot water heating, solar window shades and low water landscaping. The Gen. Curtis E. LeMay Award was presented to the 21st Force Support Squadron March 11, at the 2010 World Wide Force Support Conference Annual Awards Banquet in San Antonio, Texas. Accepting the award on behalf of 21st FSS are, (from left) Lt. Col. John Silverman, Chief Master Sgt. David McAfee, Senior Airman Talisa Williams, retired Lt. Col. Brett Dula, Airman 1st Class Casey Mann, and Cathy Lovelady. Mr. Dula represents the Order of Daedalians, sponsor of the LeMay award. The 21st FSS was named the best large support squadron in the Air Force. The award evaluates mission accomplishment and innovation, management and customer service.
