CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN AIR FORCE STATION, Colo. – Col. Russell Wilson, 721st Mission Support Group commander, passes the 721st Communications Squadron flag to Lt. Col. Vanetta M. Kilpatrick, who took command of the 721st CS July 30 at a ceremony on Cheyenne Mountain. As 721st CS commander, Lt. Col. Kilpatrick leads more than 200 military, civilian and contractor personnel operating and maintaining the $2.3 billion Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment system. Senior Airman Eric Escobar, 7th Space Warning Squadron Beale Air Force Base, Calif, operates the training simulator during a monthly proficiency training session for one of five Missile Warning crews. Training is performed using a simulator that mirrors the operations, allowing instructors to reproduce real world events for the crews to practice. SrA Escobar monitors the actions taken by one of the crew members using the consoles on his left. The console in front of him allows him to introduce stimuli to the trainees. Senior Airman Escobar won the Airman Category at the Air Force Level for the 2009 Space and Missile Operator of the Year / Enlisted Space Systems Operator of the Year Awards.

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Lt. Col. Deanna L. Violette, 13th Air Support Operations Squadron commander, Fort Carson, gathers DVDs and pamphlets from the Operations Security booth during the 21st Space Wing Mission Partner Focus Day July 27 at The Club. This event, hosted by Col. Stephen N. Whiting, 21st Space Wing commander, brought in experts from across the wing to provide information and key contact information for the wing’s mission partners. Mission partners heard from 20 experts including personnel from the 21st Force Support Squadron about the new Air Force fitness standards and 21st Security Forces Squadron on the Defense Biometric Identification System and the new integrated defense policing concepts.
