Marc Ward (left), Space Force Enhancement test analyst for Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, and Thomas Beers, 721st Mission Support Group operations officer, are members of the 2009 Air Force rugby team. Air Force decisively won its sixth consecutive gold medal at the annual Armed Forces Rugby Championship tournament Nov. 13 at Fort Benning, Ga. In five games, Air Force outscored the opposition 226-3. Air Force then went on to defeat the Royal Australian Air Force rugby team, which had challenged Air Force to the match. Airman Jessica Fryer, 21st Space Wing communications squadron, helps sort food into large bins Nov. 20 at the Care and Share Food Bank in Colorado Springs. Airman Fryer was among 40 Airmen and civilians from Peterson Air Force Base who volunteered at the regional food bank for the Harvest of Love food drive, a city-wide food drive that had tons of food coming into the warehouse. Airman Rivera was among 40 Airmen and civilians from Peterson Air Force Base who volunteered at the regional food bank for the Harvest of Love food drive, a city-wide holiday food drive that had tons of food coming into the warehouse. Ms. Champion is a member of the Peterson Spouses’ Club and key organizer of this year’s Cookies for Troops holiday cookie give-away. The club will accept cookies from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the chapel, Building 1410 on Stewart Avenue. Cookies will be bagged and delivered to Airmen who live in the dormitories and Airmen who work in 24-hour work stations. Last year, more than 700 dozen cookies were donated and delivered. PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- On Nov. 19, the Air Force's deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel announced the new Air Force fitness standards will officially begin July 1, 2010 instead of Jan. 1, 2010. A new Air Force Instruction detailing the new fitness standards is due out within the next few weeks. This fitness AFI is the first to cover the total force of active duty, Guard and Reserve. 21st Space Wing firefighters use a hydraulic rescue tool, also known as the “jaws of life,” to peel back the metal of a smashed car door so they could safely extract an injured driver. Firefighters and rescue workers were on the scene of a simulated drunk driving crash Nov. 10 on Peterson Air Force Base. The event, Every 15 Minutes, was hosted by U.S. Northern Command and included participation from the 21st Space Wing's firefighters, security forces and emergency medical teams. The anti-drug event is meant to leave a visual image that will deter Airmen from drinking and driving, event organizers said. (Air Force photo by Dennis Howk)
