Airman Catcher re-deployed to Peterson with 10 other 21st SFS Airmen. Peterson officer assumes command in Iraq

Lt. Col. Craig Williams takes the 447th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron flag from Col. Fred Cheney, 447th Air Expeditionary Group commander, signifying his assupmtion of command for the squadron at Sather Air Base, Iraq, Feb. 12. Colonel Williams is assigned to the 311th Airlift Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Sather AB is located on the west side of Baghdad International Airport and is the largest mover of passengers in Iraq, averaging 6,200 passengers weekly and the second largest mover of cargo in Iraq, averaging more than 1,700 tons weekly. Snow ParadeSnow Parade
Snow Parade

The 21st Civil Engineer Squadron will hold a “Snow Parade” at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 27, on Peterson Air Force Base. Members of the 21st CES, accompanied by 21st Space Wing leadership and Santa Claus, will drive snow plows, dump trucks, fire trucks and other winter equipment around the base to show it off to base personnel. The 11-vehicle parade will stop at the main Child Development Center, before parading down Peterson Boulevard and circling back to the Civil Engineer building. Early warning radar transitions to new phase

The Upgraded Early Warning Radar at Thule Air Base, Greenland (pictured here) just ended construction phase and now begins the equipment installation phase. The transition comes on the heels of a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the significant transition. The upgrades consist of modifications to hardware and software that will provide detection and tracking of ballistic missiles launched toward North America and other nations, and is expected to be operational in late 2009 after extensive testing.
